Pet Sitting/Walking
Policies & Guidelines

Please read over our policies and let us know if you have any questions. All uses of the phrase “Care Fur Pawz Ltd.), We or Us” shall refer to Care Fur Pawz Ltd.. The client is referred to as “Client, Customer, or You”​

​

CLEAN AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT Clients must provide a clean and safe environment for both the pets and pet caretakers. If we deem a client's household unsafe to provide or continue care for, we reserve the right to refuse service.

​

FORCE-FREE METHODS AND TOOLS Care Fur Pawz is dedicated to positive reinforcement and force-free handling ONLY. We know there are better methods out there. If your pet has a prong collar, pinch collar, choke chain, e-collar, or any other tools used for handling that are considered aversive and forceful we will use a standard collar/harness on your pet. If the owner does not consent to the use of a standard collar or harness we will politely send them on their way. As stated above we now offer dog training and are happy to help with any behavior problems you feel these tools are needed for to show you a better way physically and psychologically for the dogs.

BUSINESS HOURS Our regular business hours are Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. These are the only hours scheduling is done. The office is closed on all Federal holidays.

​

MEET & GREET/CLIENT ONBOARDING SERVICE The Meet & Greet/Client Onboarding Service is required for all new clients prior to requesting services. While we can tentatively pencil in your dates, we must meet you and your pets and assess your needs before we make a commitment to providing your pets’ care. Meet and Greets are $30 and go towards the sitter for their time and gas.

RECURRING DOG WALKS/ PACKAGES Our dog walking is sold in packages to help make payments more flexible and affordable for our loyal clients. Walks are scheduled on a weekly basis meaning you must schedule a minimum of one walk per week to maintain the discount. Once all walks in the package have been redeemed you may choose to have the package auto-renew. If you must cancel/reschedule a walk in the package, please provide 24hrs notice or the walk will be removed from the package.

RESERVATIONS It is best to plan 1-2 months in advance in order to obtain services on the dates you desire. Your reservation is only confirmed when you have received a final invoice/confirmation via e-mail. You may use our online scheduling system to do so. Messages left are not considered confirmations. 

​

PAYMENT AND DEPOSIT: Debit/Credit card payments are the accepted forms of payment. We require all clients to store a card on file which is used to take deposits, late cancellations fees, and cover supplies your pet may need (e.g. Food, Medication, Potty Pads, Leash, Collar, Harness, etc.). A 50% non-refundable deposit is taken at the time of booking to reserve dates for pet sitting. The remaining 50% will be charged 5 days before the first service. If you need to cancel please give us 5 days notice or it is non-refundable.

HOLIDAY RESERVATIONS Please understand the holidays are a very busy time for pet sitters and boarding facilities and we get more service requests than we can handle. All holiday reservations are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable because we have turned down other reservations to maintain another. A $10 holiday fee is applied to all visits that fall on the day before, day of, and day after all major holidays: New Year's Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

LATE CANCELLATIONS (For Meet and Greets and Recurring Walk Clients Only) Clients pay for these services in advance and must provide 24-hour notice or the full rate will apply.

​

EARLY RETURNS Of course, we are happy to accommodate any reservation changes with adequate notice. If you are returning home early we require 48 hours notice prior to the date you will be returning otherwise you will be charged the full amount of the original reservation.

​

VACCINATION POLICY All pets Care Fur Pawz provides services to are required to have their Rabies vaccination, per Colorado state law, unless they are unable to be vaccinated due to their age. Click the link to read the Colorado Bill regarding Rabies. Bordetella and Distemper/Distemper Combo (DHPP/DHLPP/DA2PP) are highly recommended for Canines.

It is highly recommended that felines have their FVRCP vaccines. FPV Vaccine, FH-1 vaccine, and FHV vaccine are all combined into the FVRCP vaccine. These vaccines can help prevent diseases such as Feline panleukopenia (aka feline parvovirus), Feline herpesvirus, and Feline calicivirus. FeLV is highly recommended for kittens and optional for adult cats. 

 

We support vaccinations to protect all pets and humans from dangerous and deadly diseases. We want everyone to be safe, happy, and healthy.

CONFIDENTIALITY We recognize that your privacy is important to you and your family.  We will not, at any time, either directly or indirectly, use any information for our own benefit, disclose, or communicate, in any manner, any information to any third party. I will also not divulge the dates or nature of your travel or relationship with Care Fur Pawz Ltd. without your written permission.

VISIT HOURS Morning visits occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Midday walks/visits occur between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Evening visits will be between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Late-night visits occur between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. If your pet has a specific medical need, please alert your sitter, who will be glad to work with you to set up a specific schedule. 

​

SPECIAL NEEDS If you have pets with special needs you must book 1 hour minimum. This is to ensure we can provide the best care possible and give your companion all the time and attention they need.

 

DOGGY HOUSEHOLDS To ensure the health and wellness of our families who have dogs, if your dog does not have access to a doggy door, doggy run, or an area to relieve themselves 3 visits per day are required (excluding service start and end date). This could include an overnight + 1 midday visit. Making your dog hold it for extended amounts of time can cause a UTI and we would hate for that to happen when we can be there to let them out for a potty break. This also goes for pets who are crated between visits. No pet should be locked up for more than 5 hours at a time.

 

KITTY HOUSEHOLDS We understand felines are more independent however, we still want to ensure consistent care will be provided. Cat families are required to book no less than once every other day. We believe any more days in between leaves too much time for something to go unnoticed.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY ACCESS We understand that your friends and families may want to check in on your pets while you are gone but we must know the names of those friends and family and the dates and times that they are expected. They must also notify us that they conducted a visit with verifiable proof otherwise we will schedule a visit and you will be charged. If we arrive at your home and there is an unexpected person in your home, we will leave the premises and report our findings to the local authorities. Additionally, Care Fur Pawz is not responsible for any damages incurred to or in your home or to your pet during any time period that anyone other than Care Fur Pawz has access to your home. Fair enough?

OVERNIGHTS Overnight services are 9-hour (9 pm/10 pm-6 am/7 am) or 12-hour (8/9 pm-8/9 am) stays. You will receive a service report in the morning. The pet sitter will not stay overnight if there is another person in the home, no exceptions.

​

DELIVERY FEES There will be a $30 per hour delivery fee if Care Fur Pawz Ltd. needs to pick up supplies for your pet.  Please remember to leave adequate (or more!) food, litter, leashes, etc. for your pet’s needs.

​

LAST-MINUTE SERVICE Sometimes emergencies happen – our goal is to help you when you need it most, even at the last minute.  However, do not assume that we have received your last-minute request until you have received an invoice/confirmation via e-mail.  Emergency service is only provided to clients who have a key on file (weekly clients). If we need to pick up your key prior to service, we may require a minimum of 72 hours and will charge the key pick-up fee of $30.00

KEYS We do not keep keys on file. Care Fur Pawz recommends using a lock box to keep your key safe for pet-sitting services. If you wish, the pet sitter will remove the lock box on the first visit and put it back on the last visit. We understand some may be hesitant to go this route so we also offer our key pick up/drop off service for $30.00. 

​

UNSECURED PETS Cats and dogs left out in the yard or with access to a doggy door are considered free roaming. In the event of illness, injury, loss, or death, Care Fur Pawz Ltd. will not be held liable for these free-roaming pets.  It is strongly advised that all pets wear an ID tag with a contact number and that they remain inside your home or confined for their own safety and welfare in your absence.  If your pet has a security microchip – please that information during your registration meeting.

LEASHES All dogs will be required to be on leashes during outdoor walks. All pets in our care must be on a leash while walking outside. There are no exceptions, even if the pet is trained off-leash, they must have a leash and collar properly secured and the handle in the walker's hand. 

​

SECURED AREAS It is the pet-owner’s sole responsibility to pet-proof any areas of the home and/or property to which the pet has access.  This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates, latches, doors and other devices meant to keep the pet inside or away from any ‘forbidden’ areas.  The pet-sitter does not assume and has no liability for any injuries the pet may sustain while in its own home.

SAFE ACCESS It is the pet-owner’s responsibility to provide safe access to their home – shoveling their sidewalks, steps and porch.  If the client is out of town during the time of a snowstorm, the sitter will access the home and contract services to clear walkways if necessary.  The fee for this service will be added to client’s final invoice.

​

YOU’RE COMMENTS At the end of our service period, or periodically, I will ask you to write a few comments of our work together, as an evaluation.  It helps me to see what you liked about the process, what results you received overall and anything else you’d like to add.  I find this extremely valuable and now make it a consistent part of working with each client.  I thank you in advance for this.  Often, I ask clients if I can use these comments in the form of a client testimonial.  You’ll let me know if that’s acceptable.

​

REFERRAL PARTNERS Many times I’ve had the opportunity to send a client referrals and I’m thrilled to do it.  This happens often and most probably because I get to know a business well and become keenly aware of who their ideal clients are, as well as the results that people get from the services they provide.  This means that you may receive a referral from me.  On the flip side, my clients regularly send referrals to my business too.  In essence, we become referral partners.  Here’s what I propose: if you overhear someone saying they’d like to find a reliable and guilt-free way to care for their pets in their absence send them to www.carefurpawz.com or ask them to contact me for a quick chat, to see if I can help with their pet care needs.  I will do the same for you when I meet someone who would benefit from working with you!

 

INCLIMENT WEATHER Primarily severe storms, snow/ice conditions, etc. You will entrust Care Fur Pawz Ltd. to use their best judgment in caring for your pets(s) and home if we are servicing you at the time of inclement weather. Care Fur Pawz Ltd. will try to carry out your instructions to the best of the company’s ability. The care we provide to our customer’s pets and their safety is our first concern. Customer selection of a nearby emergency contact has been requested. The inclement weather plan will be as follows: 1) Every effort will be made to drive to your home; 2) The service schedule may be changed, interrupted, or altered due to circumstances; 3) If it is not possible to drive safely to your home, your emergency contact will be notified, 4) You will be notified that the above-mentioned contingency plan has been activated.

 

EMERGENCY CONTACT Care Fur Pawz Ltd. has requested the name and phone number of a person living nearby Care Fur Pawz Ltd. This should be a person close enough to walk to your home if roads are impassable Care Fur Pawz Ltd. If we are physically unable to drive to your home this information is needed so that we can contact this person to request their assistance to check on your pet(s). Please remember that the garage door opener is not operational in the event of power outages. In the event that the customer does not provide a nearby emergency contact with access to your home for Care Fur Pawz Ltd. the customer realizes that Care Fur Pawz Ltd. will provide service but not until conditions allow us to reach your home safely.

 

MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION Care Fur Pawz Ltd. will attempt to administer medications as directed but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result. Excessively shy cats with medical problems can be a serious risk. If you have such an animal, this must be thoroughly discussed. Under no circumstances will Care Fur Pawz Ltd. service any pet that has any form of contagious illness. This is for the safety of other customers. Care Fur Pawz Ltd. that all pets have the necessary vaccinations and immunizations before service begins. If Care Fur Pawz Ltd. pet care provider is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from the client’s pet(s) that has not been properly or currently vaccinated, the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may incur.

 

ACCIDENT CLEAN-UP Care Fur Pawz Ltd. will properly dispose of pet waste and do our best to clean up any accidents your pet may have. Care Fur Pawz Ltd. is not responsible for carpet/flooring stains created by your pet(s). We do request that you provide plastic bags, towels, cleaning products, paper towels, and trash bags and indicated where you would like the waste disposed of.

 

ANIMAL BEHAVIOR Animals’ behavior can be unpredictable. Care Fur Pawz Ltd. does not accept responsibility or liability for animal behavior, normal or otherwise, which results in injury to the client’s animals. Further, if a Care Fur Pawz Ltd. pet care provider is harmed or injured by the client’s animals, the client/owner accepts full responsibility for the cost of any necessary medical attention required by either this Care Fur Pawz Ltd. pet care provider or by the animals.

 

UPDATES Please provide us with any changes regarding your pets’ care and other pertinent information.

 

All policies and guidelines are subject to change at Care Fur Pawz Ltd.’s discretion.
